When do you think pki will tear Vortex down??? I really think it only has a few years under its belt left because its so rough and EVEN though its a fan favotrite the steel isnt in best shape. So I think it will be torn down at the end of 06! Im dead serious and thats the same Year CEDAR FAIR buys the park! LOL

So when do you think the park will tear down the 148ft steel head basher?

Please tell me that you started this thread as a joke. Not because I love Vortex, but because this topic has been beaten to death.

... and if PKI would take Vortex out, it is only because it is sinking. You know, it has sunk at least 5 feet prior to 2004! ;)

First of all, how do you know what condition the steel on the ride is in? Have you talked with maintenance about it? Secondly, yes it may be rough, but that is the way in which it was designed, not the way in which it has aged. I don`t forsee it leaving in the next five years because word on the street was that they paid well over $100,000 to have it repainted in 2002. Also, Cedar Fair is not going to buy the park from Paramount. PKI is Paramount`s flagship park and Paramount Parks would be done if they lost their star park, although all five are decent parks. Why would Cedar Fair even want to buy PKI? They already own CP and GL, not to mention that Michigan`s Adventure is not that terribly far away either!

For the last time, Vortex wasn't sinking. And anyways they wouldn't get rid of that ride just because of the fact if it even was sinking. People are saying that Vortex is being taken out JUST because it was sinking. Come on! If the Beast was sinking do you think they would just get rid of that? No. Just think about that though. Would they really get rid of Vortex just because it was sinking?

And do you know how smart that would be for Cedar Fair to buy the park. Then all three parks in ohio are owned by Cedar Fair!

It's not going anywhere for quite awhile. Parts aren't hard to get and the thing is very reliable. It's not going anywhere.

Calm down Hablo, he was joking about Vortex sinking. Hence the wink at the end of his post. That sinking rumor is really about Magnum XL200 at CP. That went around for a long time and then they had to dispel it on their web site.

vortex, if it is ever actually taken down, would most likely be in ten or fifteen years, which would still leave us some friggin awesome ride time, i dont see how everyone calls THIS ONE rough, i like it, i think a few part could be smoother, but its due to banking and curvature, not actual bumpiness... and i have never received a headbashing, and i have sat in middle-back row... is it worse in front? i would probably still like this one... :P

Vortex isn't going anywhere anytime soon. And CP is NOT buying PKI, unless they buy the ENTIRE Paramount chain - and thats not happening.

Like others have said look for another 15 years or more. As for CP buying PKI that rumor is getting old fast.

I highly doubt CF would buy PKI because when you buy one Paramount park you buy them all its a chain and Vortex aint going nowhere.
